Viewcare

Seriously ill patients with chronic diseases will in the future be hospitalized in their own home. Today, this Telehealth type application is limited to out-patients, as the hospitals are not capable of providing the quality and security for in-patients.

Viewcare provide an end-to-end solution, that enable conventional hospitals to provide high-quality, fully secure in-patient treatment on patient premises by means of its unique client/server based Viewcare patient and hospital terminals as well as it fully hosted back-end and infrastructure software.

Background
Patients with chronic diseases, when hospitalized, are at max spending 15 minutes a day in direct contact with medical competences (doctors and nurses) during rounds. The remaining of the day they are mostly lying in bed waiting for “tomorrows” round.

During the round at the hospital, doctors and nurses look at and interview the in-patient and make a variety of tests. Some test include a physical measurements by dedicated devices. Based on finding during the round, the doctor will decide next actions e.g. change of medication, discharged, extended hospitalization etc. The remaining of the hours, the patient is idle; hospitalized, potentially anxious, without relatives and normal housing and exposed to potential diseases and infections.

In total, hospitalization of these types of patients is a) costly, b) inefficient, c) potentially damaging, d) reduces life-quality e)etc.

As an alternative to hospitalize the in-patient, the in-patient (suffering from selected chronic diseases) can be hospitalized at home, being provided with the exact same supervision and treatment as if hospitalized at the hospital. Exact same supervision and treatment require, that doctors and nurses can provide and deliver the same quality and security when performing rounds, as well as being capable of provide the same services and sense of security when “waiting” for the next round.

In order to provide in-patients hospitalized at home with the above services, numerous trustworthy, secure and intuitive it-based solutions, products and services must be made available to both in-patients at home as well as to the doctors and nurses.

Such solutions include high quality video conferencing, natural, non-delayed audio conferencing, fully operational medical devises, (on in-patient premises), access to conventional hospital IT systems, secure and QoS managed broadband connection, communication devices (terminals) with 1 (one) or less buttons, etc.
